Microorganisms                                                                                                                   

  • Viruses, bacteria and many fungi is microorganism.
  • Microorganism can only be seen with equipment called Microscope.

Virus:

  • Virus can only survive inside a living cell. As they come out of the cell they make crystals like nonliving things.
  • Viruses cause influenza, Measles and hepatitis.
  • Virus caused many diseases in animals like influenza, measles, chicken-pox, polio, hepatitis, aids etc.
  • Virus also caused many diseases in plants like destroy their leaves, stems, roots and fruits.

Bacteria:

  • Bacteria are the most abundant living organism of the world.
  • Bacteria cause tuberculosis and cholera.
  • To control the bacterial diseases medicines called antibiotics are used.
  • Bacteria convert milk into yogurt. Bacteria help in baking.

Fungi:

  • Fungi cause ringworm and athlete’s foot diseases.
  • Fungi are used in baking industry on a very large scale.
  • Microscope was invented by Dutch scientist, Antony Van Leeuwenhoek in 1667.
  • Our body has the power to kill infectious organism. This power to control germs is called immunity.
